Highway Bypass Corridor Survey
50km of topographic and geodetic corridor control for highway design.
View DetailsDigital Mapping & LiDAR Scanning — Riverside District, for the Riverside Planning Office.
The Riverside Planning Office needed current, high-resolution terrain intelligence across 500 hectares of dense urban fabric — rooftops, streets, parks and waterways — to feed zoning, drainage and transport models.
Our drone LiDAR teams flew the district in coordinated blocks, penetrating tree canopy and urban clutter to capture true ground. The result: a district-wide elevation model accurate enough for engineering design.
The challenge: photogrammetry alone can't see ground through trees and hits limits between tall buildings. The planning team also needed data in weeks, not the months a ground survey of this area would take.
The approach: LiDAR penetrated canopy to reach true ground, while oblique imagery textured a 3D city model. Flights ran at dawn to avoid crowds and heat haze, with 120 ground checkpoints securing accuracy across every block.
